A retainer is a recurring monthly fee paid by a client in exchange for a defined set of services or a committed block of time. Retainers provide revenue predictability.

A recurring fee, typically monthly, paid by a client in exchange for a defined set of services or a committed block of time. Retainers provide revenue predictability and budget certainty. Unlike project billing, retainer hours are often use it or lose it unless rollover terms are agreed.
